Races and Cultures

By Don D Dinkums

Recently I attended an event which placed relevance on the future of our youth. The event was attended by the recently elected Prime Minister who at 93, who came up on stage to share his hopes and wisdom. He spoke about the importance of the future and our responsibility to take care of it. A responsibility to care for our youth and that the country which we live is cared for properly as they are the ones that will inherit it. He spoke eloquently and one thing stuck to me. I paraphrase;

“A country with a society of acceptance towards all races and culture.”

When he mentioned that, it occurred to me that’s what I see every Sunday at 4pm. For 3 hours on Sunday, a group of people of various ages, races, backgrounds and social strata get together out on the field to throw an oval ball around. That’s how the club has been since its founding 51 years ago and the values still carry on to this day.
